more fathers day photos

Fathers Day Potluck

Another beautiful day here! Capt. Denise and Harlan organized a potluck under the palapa honoring all the Fathers here on the ranch. Please note in the photos, Harlans mickey mouse ears (watermelons brought by Frank of El Soccorro). Leonard from El Soccorro was also there, it is his birthday today. Yuma John and Sandy brought some very good and spicy tortellini. Elsa and Russ brought a nice cole slaw. Elsa is leaving tomorrow to visit her sister for a week or so.

Gabby attended with a couple of his visiting friends. Denise was there sans Skippy (he is still working in S.D) and she brought her famous deviled eggs. I didn't get a pic of Paul but he is looking pretty sporty lately in hawaiian shirts. He cooked up a tasty beef bourgeois. Mitch was there and supplied the beer (always a popular item). Guitar was there sans Michelle as she is in SD for a few days visiting a friend. Terry supplied the vegetable side dish. Capt. Denise made a birthday cake for Leonard, she also made a refreshing lemon pudding dessert. Chuck showed ( a little late) with the rice. Joe and Kay didn't make as they are getting ready for a short stateside trip but sent over a tasty macaroni salad. Dave and I supplied carnitas, tripas and fried pig skin (what can I tell you, its Fathers Day and thats what he wanted) we also took a fruit and yogurt salad. You should of been there!

Another fish fry

Joe and Sandy hosted a pretty good fish dinner. Some of the attendees were Dick and his girlfriend June (A23) who are down for a few days, Gary And Stacye (B03) are down but will be leaving today. Yuma John and Sandy made it in just in time for dinner. You shoulda been here!

Capt. Denise & Harlans big squid

Denise and Harlan went fishing with Chino yesterday and came home with a pretty big squid. They also caught some ling cod and rock cod. Not too many people have been fishing lately what with the red tides we've been having.

Beach Party

Joe and Sandy sure know how to throw a beach party. They ordered up lots of sun, no wind and hot dogs. Everyone brought food (as usual, way too much). Some of us fished, some of us played bocci ball and some just relaxed and soaked up some rays. Paul and Dave are the reigning champs of bocci ball, while kite surfer Alexis caught the first fish. A good time was had by all.

Joe's homemade whirlygig

Joe and Kay have been putting this thing together for only about a month and completed it this past Monday. Just about everyone at the Rancho was out to help them put it up. Once up, it started turning and tracking the wind. It should generate some power here in the windy city.

Nice to see someones ideas turn into reality.
